Without a reserve means the car will sell no matter what price the owner asked; consequently, the auctioned vehicle will sell for the price of the highest buyer's bid, not necessarily the owner's asking price. As a result, the level of excitement is at an almost excruciating level as sellers hold their breath and hope for their price, on what is, in many cases, the result of a labor of exacting standards of restoration.
