The Phoenix Metropolitan area barely has a chance to catch its breath following the Phoenix Open Golf Tournament. Soon throngs of rabid baseball fans will descend and spread out to Phoenix, Glendale, Scottsdale, Surprise, Goodyear, Tempe, Peoria, and Mesa for the Spring Training season. Spring Training runs from February 23 – March 27, 2018.  This month-long experience takes place in 10 Stadiums, hosting 15 Teams, making the Valley one big hot dog, popcorn and peanut-fueled flurry of activity. Why Phoenix?

Phoenix, Arizona receives over 300 days of sunshine every year and temperatures in March are nothing short of heavenly. Years ago, as a result of players starting the season “cold,” Major League Baseball came up with a brilliant solution to allow players to practice and get in shape in ideal weather conditions before the season began. Half of the league would travel to Florida (The Grapefruit League) and half would come here, to Phoenix (Cactus League). In Phoenix, the month of March hosts the teams from Arizona, Chicago, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Colorado, Kansas, Los Angeles, Milwaukee, Oakland, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, and Texas. Decked out in tank tops and shorts, catching some great baseball and enjoying the classic stadium treats, many of these visitors are second and third generation Spring Training attendees. The tradition dating back in Scottsdale to 1947.

More than Baseball

There’s a lot more to do in 70 and 80-degree sunshine! For example, many visitors supplement their baseball viewing with golf playing! And who can blame them? Pack the clubs and catch 18 holes before then resting up in the bleachers with a cold one. In fact, the Chicago Cubs just built a brand new, beautiful facility only 10 minutes from the airport. In fact, there are about a dozen golf courses within a ten-mile radius of Sloan Park.

Great Monthly Rental Rates

Coincidently, Phoenix Car Rental is located just 4 miles, or less than 10 minutes from the airport as well. Here you can rent a cheap, monthly car to take you to all the games, and courses! True.
And the Grand Canyon is only a hole in Arizona.”
